抱きしめたい

昨日に続き、洋楽のタイトルで一言。

ビートルズの大ヒット曲に「抱きしめたい」という曲がある。

この原題は"I Want to Hold Your Hand"という。

つまり、「僕は君の（片方の）手をギュッと握りたい」というのが直訳である。

そう、自分の両手で相手の片方の手を（念のためだが、handは手首よりも先の部分を指す。手首から肩はarmである）包み込みようにギュっとするのですよ。

邦題の「抱きしめたい」だと「相手の体全体を包み込むように抱きしめる」というイメージなので、ちょっと違うだろー、と突っ込みを入れる次第。

ちなみに歌詞は以下の通り。和訳してみませんか。
